GNC/AOCS Engineer (m/f/d) in Stuttgart / GER

Astos Solutions GmbH specializes in service and software solutions for the space industry. Our products include simulation, optimization and analysis tools that are used worldwide by space agencies, industry and research organizations. ASTOS is the world market leading software for launch vehicle design and performance analysis. We also develop specialized testing and check-out tools.

To create, develop and adapt these powerful and comprehensive tools to new requirements, we have a competent and ambitious team.

Our newly formed GNC/AOCS and Flight Dynamics department is looking for new team players with the necessary skills and a hands on mentality to join the team.

We have partnered up with a Microlauncher start-up planning to be ready for lift off in two years from today. This activity includes the whole GNC development for their launcher and provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only develop algorithms in simulations but implement them in a real launcher. Your algorithms will help this mission succeed.

This Will Be Your Tasks

  • Development and implementation of control, guidance and navigation algorithms for launcher systems
  • Testing of the algorithms up to flight qualification
  • Generation of flight software by means of auto-coding and subsequent manual revision
  • GNC concept design, FDIR, mission design and planning
  • Supporting other activities and projects in the field of GNC/AOCS
  • Participate in and contribute to technical discussions

This Is What We Expect

To fill our four vacancies different areas of focus are needed with a mix of qualifications as follows:

  • A degree in aerospace engineering, cybernetics or comparable qualification
  • Advanced knowledge of control engineering (classical and robust control), guidance and navigation algorithms
  • Good knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience in mathematical modelling and analysis of dynamical systems
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Experience with auto-coding using MATLAB Auto-Coder or dSPACE TargetLink
  • Experience with dSPACE SCALEXIO
  • Experience with flight software
  • Good knowledge of launcher systems, especially with reference to the GNC and avionics system
  • Good knowledge of space missions with respect to GNC tasks, such as:
    • Launch safety, Re-entry safety, Docking, Rendezvous and Capture, Formation flying, Reusability, Flight termination system, Automatic transfer vehicle, Autonomous re-entry vehicle
  • Good command of written and spoken English
